1. Overview

As a Social Media Marketing Assistant for CSUF Women’s Business Association, I support the organization's marketing team through event photography, videography, graphic design, and social media content creation. My work focuses on documenting campus activities, creating assigned promotional materials, and producing content that showcases WBA's events and community.

2. Audience & Challenge

  • Promoting student organization events involves communicating essential information to students while also giving potential attendees a sense of what they can expect.

  • WBA's marketing content needs to inform students about upcoming activities and highlight experiences from past events to support the organization's visibility and engagement.

3. My role

As a Social Media Marketing Assistant, my responsibilities included:

  • Attending organization events to capture photographs and videos for social media content.

  • Creating assigned promotional graphics for events and monthly activity schedules.

  • Producing event recap videos from collected footage.

  • Writing event captions and coordinating posting schedules with the marketing team.

4. Strategy

  • Before Events: Informing Students

Promotional graphics and monthly event calendars communicate upcoming activities, relevant details, and opportunities for participation.

  • During Events: Capturing Experiences

On-site photography and videography document activities, speakers, attendees, and moments that represent the organization's event experience.

  • After Events: Sharing Highlights

Event recap content brings together selected footage and photographs to showcase the experience and extend its visibility on social media.

Together, these content formats support WBA's ongoing communication with its campus audience.

7. Reflection

Working with WBA has strengthened my understanding of how social media content can support student organizations and foster a sense of community. Attending events has also introduced me to new perspectives on the experiences and challenges women face in business, deepening my appreciation for the importance of advocacy, representation, and professional empowerment.

Beyond developing my content creation and teamwork skills, these experiences have inspired me to explore new ideas for future events and ways to engage and support women pursuing careers in business. I've learned that effective marketing communications isn't just about promoting events, but also about amplifying meaningful conversations and connecting people through shared experiences.
